On The Day

1. Parking

Our large car park is located just a few steps from the entrances. Please do not leave animals in your vehicle. We contact the police when we find animals in cars.

Please share the car or leave the car at home.

Parking can be difficult to find when it is especially busy, such as during sunny bank holidays. For more information, please visit our homepage and our Planning Your Visit section.

2. New Arrivals

The latest arrivals of animals are displayed on the board located opposite the membership area. Marwell News Bites will keep you up to date with the latest news at the zoo. Follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for the latest news.

Priority number one. Purchase our guidebook with maps and facts from the admissions desk. You will learn more about our exotic and endangered species and discover some surprising facts along the way.

4. Take your time

Imagine Marwell Zoo as a walking safari. You’ll want to spend 4-5 hours exploring the 140 acres of parkland, trying to observe our animals in their natural habitat as you stroll around.

You may not see them right away. They could be in their den or resting under a tree. The wait will be well worth it.

Please note that as we near closing time, some of our indoor spaces are gradually closing to ensure the safety and comfort of our animals. These include our semi-aquatic mammal houses, where you can view our pygmy Hippo.

5. Enjoy a late or early lunch

Our cafes are often busy on busy days. We recommend eating early or late to avoid the queues.

6. Let your child go wild!

In any of our five adventure play areas.

7. Guests with disabilities

We welcome guests with accessibility needs and their carers and helpers. The Gift Shop has a limited number of manual chairs available for hire. Booking information can be found on our accessibility page.

All of our toilets are equipped with disabled cubicles. For guests with extreme accessibility needs, we offer a Changing Places facility near the snow leopards that is accessible with a radar key.

We do not allow access in certain areas due to the sensitive nature of our animals. For more information, please visit our accessibility page.

8. We’re always here to help

Our team is always happy to assist you with any questions. Our team will treat you with respect and courtesy. In return, we ask that you be patient and show respect to our staff and other guests. We are a family-oriented attraction and have zero tolerance for abusive behaviour.
